Medical student with some experience in IT and freelance writing
Location
I'm willing to help wherever my skills can be useful. Following is my relevant training/experience (click "read more" to see it on the home page):
MEDICAL:
-Completed my first year (out of 4 years) of graduate medical school (University of Sydney, Australia)
-Bachelor's degree in Medicinal Chemistry with minors in biology, medical physics, and radioenvironmental sciences (University of Missouri, USA).
-2 years experience at a microbiology lab (primarily with processing sputum specimens) - I could volunteer to process samples (i.e. Gram stains, etc.) to help control the infections that are undoubtedly rampant.
-Familiar with surgical technique through 1 year experience as a recovery technician at an eye bank, during which I was responsible for extracting eyes or ocular tissue from recently-deceased organ donors.
TECHNOLOGY/non-medical:
-Substantial experience in web design/development and graphics design/image processing.
-Able to help set up hardware infrastructure.
-Experienced blogger and freelance writer - I could help maintain some of the PR sites that exist to recruit volunteers and collect donations. There also seems to be a shortage of people who can report on the goings-on in Port-au-Prince in an online news format.
-Languages: English (proficient), Urdu/Hindi (fluent), Spanish (semi-fluent)
