European Disaster Volunteers (EDV) is a volunteer driven charity that aids disaster affected communities worldwide by providing relief and helping them achieve sustainable recovery.

We have been working in Port au Prince for 18 months and our volunteer programme has recently finished. Our projects have included sustainable building, community outreach and development, and the support of local Haitian led groups. So far EDV have helped to build drainage to reduce flooding in orphanages, worked with a local community group to re-start a football programme, organised a community library, helped to build transitional classrooms and provide a home for 47 orphans, run English language classes and provided scholarships to enable children to attend school. We are continuing to support education programmes in Port au Prince and whilst these are now being managed by local Haitian staff we still need funding to enable these programmes to continue.
