I have recently landed in Port de Paix without any return flight to the United States pending volunteer work. I am 27 years old and have spent much of my young adult life living abroad (Nairobi, Kenya) and traveling (Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Western Europe). I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Nairobi setting up pre-fab housing units for families effected by the bombing of the U.S Embassy, helped teach english at S.O.S Childrens Village, and volunteered at St. Peter's School (for developmentally disabled abandoned children).

I recently finished a 3 month volunteer project with Un Techo Para Mi Pais in Bogotá, Colombia and over the past few months I've been researching different volunteering opportunities in Haiti. I've contacted a number of volunteers to hear what it is like on the ground, the challenges they face and to hear first hand what the conditions are like. Through my research I have become very interested in the various construction and rubble removal projects in Haiti and would love to have the opportunity to be a part of these projects. I will be free for the month of March (and I'm very flexible) and believe, if given the opportunity to offer my services and experience, would be able to offer a lot to the Haitian people affected by the Jan 2010 earthquake and on-going crises. A brief bio of myself: Age: 26. Nationality: Australian. Professional Experience: Civil/Structural Engineer - 5 years experience in Australia, Canada and USA. Languages: English, intermediate level Spanish and French (I've lived the past 3 years in Montreal, Canada, which is where I'm currently residing while studying French and volunteering). Primary Volunteering Experience: 3 months with Un Techo Para Mi Pais assisting with construction projects and assessment of families for the eligibility of housing grants. International Experience: I have lived and worked in Australia, and Canada and the USA (3 years). I've also travelled extensively in the Latin America / Caribbean region and I'm aware of the conditions (climatic and social) experienced in the region. I am a neurologist with one prior mission trip to Haiti in March 2010. My daughter (age 19) went with me along with 8 others including my father (age 70) who is physician as well (Internal Medicine). My daughter speaks some French and is interested in coming along for another mission trip, this time hoping to work with children in an educational capacity. She is an artist and has skills teaching children. I am looking forward to another opportunity to visit and to help out in any way which could be useful including primary care medicine, neurology, education or even manual labor.
