Please spread the word!

Jan 15 2010

The Haiti Volunteer Network is a volunteer effort. We need your help to spread the word to others -- so that people with skills, services and goods to offer can connect with the right people to make a difference.

Keep in mind that you do not necessarily have to travel to Haiti to volunteer. In fact, unless you are experienced in disaster and crisis response, you may unintentionally do more harm than good by traveling to Haiti right away (http://bit.ly/6M2Rje). However, Haiti will likely need skilled volunteers to help recover from this disaster in the months and years to come. There are also ways to use many of your skills (such as technology and language) from wherever you are.

This is an information exchange service only. Please create a profile to network with others and look for opportunities to help. Please only contact us directly if you have questions about the web site. We are just web developers trying to help out and are not an actual agency providing relief services or coordinating volunteers.

The slate has been wiped clean, we have been given a chance to start, to restart the right way. I would like to help with vocational learning. The education being given in Haitian schools right now needs to be targeted towards fields that can be utilized right now and learned in a short period of time. The focus in Haiti needs to be put towards education, self sufficiency, hard work and strategic management.

HaitiCorps International

Haiticorps was founded in the days following the major earthquake of January 12, 2010 that destroyed a good part of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and surrounding towns. From this devastation grew an urgency from children, grandchildren, and allies of Ayiti Toma (the Kreyòl name for Haiti) to work to restore Haiti and her proud people to their fullest potential. Haiticorps was founded to help with this tremendous undertaking through collaboration and building human capital.
