I am a licensed home economics (family and consumer education) teacher and a former small business owner (retail sales of imported tapestry wall hangings). I have an extensive background in machine and hand-sewing, needlework. I also have a bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics and worked in both community nutrition education and as a clinical dietitian in health care. I have two master's degrees in Education, one for adult education program development with a focus on international development (lived and did research in Liberia, West Africa). The other master's degree is in home economics education (teaching sewing, food and nutrition, child development, and money management). My teaching background is strongest in non-formal education (community) settings such as with women's groups, parents, youth groups (4-H), leadership development, and church groups. I took French in high school and college, but I am very rusty now. I also create and sew blankets, clothing, pillows, curtains, and church decorative wall hangings/banners.
